November in the collective heritage of the Arab East

Arab Weather - November is the eleventh month in the Roman Gregorian calendar (Gregorian Calendar: known in the Arab East as (Tishrin al-Thani), and in the Arabian Gulf, Yemen, the Nile Valley and the Arab Maghreb it is called (November).

Where did the name Tishreen come from?

The term (“ Tishrin ”) was taken from the “Aramaic-Syriac” Eastern calendar, and the Syriac word “Tishrin” in Arabic means (“beginning”), i.e., the beginning of autumn. The month of (Tishrin II: tšrin trayunu: ܬܫܪܶܢ ܬܪܰܝܳܢܳܐ) corresponds to the Arabic equivalent, i.e., (Tishrin II).
The month of November has (30) days.

The early clouds that appear in November are called "al-Marabi'a." The "rainy season" that arrives in mid-November with the rising of the Pleiades in the evening is considered the best season, because the rains fall after the long summer and autumn seasons when the earth is in dire need of rainfall. They also called the season that arrives with the rising of the Pleiades "the sports season." If the rains fall in mid-November (November 10-20), farmers and Bedouin people rejoice and consider it a season of goodness and fertility.

The most famous popular proverbs about the month of October

Perhaps the most famous oral proverbs circulating in the Arab East about "November" are: -

1. (November has no trust in rain!!).
2. (Betsharin Betoker Al-Hayaya Wal-Haradin), meaning the animals begin to hide in their dens for fear of the cold and frost.
3. (The second day of November, with the cold of the stones and the scorching of the trees).
4. (The yellowing came, and the trees were left bare), and the yellowing is winter and the yellowing of the leaves, and there is a type of bird they call Abu Safir, so if it whistles, it means the arrival of good things, and that is why they say: (Abu Safir whistled and good things came).
5. ("O moon of October, shine upon us, and do not make us forget the nights of longing.")
